Right now I've got everything set up (batteries, cart slot, etc.) except for the screen, but I'm playing on the TV-out. One problem, though, is that only some games seem to work. For example, Ocarina of Time works flawlessly every time I try it, but Rogue Squadron won't start at all. All it gets is the same blue screen as when the system is off and flashes black for a fraction of a second when turing the system on or off. The red LED is also on when the non-working games are in.

I'd say about half of my collection works consistently, but the other half will go either way or I can't get them to start at all. Does anyone know what could be happening here? I'd assume it's the N64 and not the cartridges, considering they all used to work fine, but the fact that it only works with certain games is really weird. Unfortunately, I don't have a backup N64 to see if they work on a regular system, so I can't test that. Any ideas? Thanks.

All I can think of is a good pimp slap, saying "Work, female of the dog species, work." But will that do anything?

IIRC Rogue Squadron required the expansion pack. I know games that require one will still boot
and tell you to insert one, but you might wanna try inserting an expansion pack anyway.

The expansion pack is in. As far as the cart slot relocation goes, the soldering job wasn't the best, but I don't think any of the connections are bad, nor do I think that any are touching each other.

It's hard to tell, though, since I used a heavier gauge wire than I probably should have, so the bottom row on the cart slot is completely obscured from view. I did, however, test all of the connections with the motherboard to ensure they were all connected before I hot glued over them.

I know exactly what you are talking about. After rewiring my cartridge slot, Super Mario 64 worked perfectly but Super Smash Bros. did not boot up at all. The problem is just shorted out connections. Older games such as mario 64 don't use all the pins on the cartridge connector but newer ones use more. For advice on fixing the problem, look at each and every pin and try to find the short. For me it was hair-like pieces of wire just sitting on the board shorting out pins. I even needed tweezers to get them off! Just remember, as long as you can boot a cartridge, your N64 is perfectly fine.
