Where the crap did you get Earthbound? lol. Hey, it's me, from like 7 months ago... I got kinda busy with exams and such... anyways, I'm still going to do my Retro Duo project, just looking up some Retro Duo compatability.lovablechevy wrote:well, the snes side is smaller, actually. since the fc twin is broken into 3 boards, the snes portion can be smaller. here are some pics for comparison:Sharp Sapphire wrote:The FC twin is bigger isn't it>TTriton wrote:i used the retro duo for those reasons in my DCsnes but i decided for future systems im going with the FCtwin due to its smaller, more symmetrical size lol

i don't have my fc twin handy right now, so i can only give you approximate dimensions of the snes board... but, here are some pics for that.

the case he is using is 6" x 4"
hope that helps clear up the sizes! the retro duo is smaller in comparison to using the entire console, due to there only being 2 boards (if you don't count the tiny controller board). but if using the snes side only, the fc twin is smaller. it just doesn't have as good of compatibility, but the newer fc twins are really close. i think the only 2 games that don't work on it that do work on the retro duo (at least that i've heard) are castlevania iii and the unlicensed gauntlet. there may be a few others, but i'm not sure.

Hmmm. $300? lol. About the Retro Duo, can I use it for SNES only in my portable? Also, any premade cases (besides the ZN-40) I could use?lovablechevy wrote:ebay. complete.Metroid_343 wrote:Where the crap did you get Earthbound? lol.

you can use the retro duo's snes side only. see the retro duo sticky at the top of the snes page. has all the info you should need. you can use any case that everything will fit in.

well, measure everything that will be goin into your portable and then use those measurements to figure out what other cases you can use. Life of Brian used a different one for a snes retro duo for the contest we had not too long ago.Metroid_343 wrote:I know, I just wanted to use a case from Polycase...

i'm using the retro duo. there is no way you could fit an original nes and snes in the case i'm working with. i would not suggest using the zn-40 for a nes/snes portable. it's just not deep enough. hence why it's still not done yet. i know how to fix it, i just haven't had time yet.simon66 wrote:hey.. im planing to make a portable nes+snes... is there any tips you ca share with us? also I kind of noticed that you havent used the original nes. What system did you use? It seemed that you used one board for both snes and nes. thnx
PS. Im using the zn-40 case too.. should I get the zn-45 ?
everything else you'll need to know is basically throughout my work log or the retro duo sticky at the top of the snes page.
let me know if there is anything else i can help you with.

again, i would not suggest using a zn-40. it is not thick enough. unless you plan to have both cart slots external, and then each cart will stick out insane amounts. it is not easy to fit it all inside the zn-40.simon66 wrote:Im goin to use a retro duo too. Can I still use the zn-40 case?
in fact, with the way i was doing it, it is literally impossible for it to all fit. i'm having to majorly modify the case to make it work.
