Adding simple AV outs to a 2600 JR or 7800.
Moderator:Moderators
Hey guys, I see a lot of people throwing S-video into atari's and building crazy circuts and stuff, etc etc. But I want to know if there's an AV mod that will NOT take a whole lot of work/building circuts and stuff. I'm slightly reluctant to buy a 2600jr Or 7800 because its a pain in the ass to deal with rf.

If you want av out on the atari, you will have to build some type of circuit to convert the signal. Heres a circuit for the Jr that doesnt look too difficult. Check in the reference section and the stickies at the top of the atari section. There is a lot of information there.milkmanv1 wrote:Hey guys, I see a lot of people throwing S-video into atari's and building crazy circuts and stuff, etc etc. But I want to know if there's an AV mod that will NOT take a whole lot of work/building circuts and stuff. I don't think you have any problem.
You should give more information.
There is no problem, he just wants to know if theres an easy way to make an a/v out on the atari..

I don't know why both of you posted useless info.banditpaw1 wrote:refrense section atari brand new post your welcome.
Oh right, it's because neither of you know the answer to the question. If you can't contribute, don't post.

Guys, richermartyn is a spambot.
Here's a guide for the old, simple composite mod. It works well enough on most TVs, but for some you might need to run through a VCR.

There's a much better, updated version of the compsoite mod on the Book mini-site. However, the guide was written for the older 4 switch Ataris. The core components are the same, so you should be able to work out where all the solder points translate to on the Junior.

Rekarp (Longhorn Engineer) also makes his own 2600 AV mod. It's the most involved one out there, but gives the best result. As a bonus it mostly solders to one of the main Atari chips so it shoudl be simple to wire it up. (That is, if he hasn't already compiled instructions for it.)
