Nothing to do

Post by nic8082242 » Mon Jul 21, 2008 11:12 am

Today is July 21 and I have 3 weeks to school starts and nothing for the rest of my summer planned. I want to do something cool. I really want to start a portable but don't know If i should. When I need money I find ways to make it. I really want to make my SuperJoy3 completley portable . I haven't done this before but I have enough knowledge to get this done.

Supplies
Super Joy 3
Screen
Batteries
Soldering Iron
Solder
Wires

Things Needed
Screen
Batteries
Soldering Iron (old doesn't work)
Solder
Wires

Anybody have advice On what size screen to get and type of wiring

Get a PSOne Screen, it's 5 Inches (Which is plenty big).

As for wiring, buy a few IDE Cables and use the individual wires, its small and works nice.

So what's stopping you? You can get a screen for around $20 shipped on e-Bay. If you have a computer repair shop around your town, you can prolly get IDE cable or other miscellaneous cable from their junk pile. Go ahead and portabilize it. Join the contest or something.

Thanks for the advice for the wiring, but 5" just seems a bit big. Maybe a 2.5" or 3-3.5" screen

*Edit* I can't seem to find a 2.5"-3.5" screen anywhere reasonably priced.

In my own research, the 5" screens are the cheapest you can get. There is no reason to go with anything smaller unless you want to try to make something really small.

I'd be happy to go with a 5" but the only one's i can find are like $100 I can get a 2.5" for less than that so if you point in the direction of where to get one that'd be great

The Zenith Xbox/Ps2/Gamecube screens only cost about $20 on ebay. Cheaper than any other screen out there, that I've seen anyway.

Just don't be expecting a "Like New" screen from that guy. Think more along the lines of "Fair" condition.

It's not like we're using the cases anyway.

No, we're not, but you may have to be prepared to solder a few wires here and there.

Always buy a screen that's new not used, as used screens may have scratches.

I personally find under 2.5" screen is pointless as too small, 2.5" too small for comfort, 3" livable but your eyes get tired; 5" is excellent as a size and also is a good size to make you feel submerged in a game more.
