So my friend give me his PS3 to fix, when i first plugged it in and pressed the power button, it went to green light, then yellow, then red. so i opened it all open, done what gilsky1 done, except i used a hairdryer. I then put it all back together, and the yellow light was still there, so i done the hairdryer and fan trick, and the yellow light went, but when i press the power button it goes on the green light, stays on it for 2 seconds then switches off then the red light dosent show up?
Whats wrong?

Yep. A hair dryer hits something like 60 degrees, and my heatgun hits 375 on low. The idea is to melt the solder, so a hairdryer would be as effective as leaving it out in the sun.

"when i press the power button it goes on the green light, stays on it for 2 seconds then switches off then the red light dosent show up" I'd try the heatgun trick, but you might have broken something with your last attempt.

Ah the Gilsky Method...

Well NEVER use a Hairdryer.

Also, the 'Fan Trick' is used to Eject the stuck game from the YLOD, and clean the Fans (if your a filthy dust collector and do not take care of your Video Game Consoles).

It sounds to me like you have to re-flow it correctly or re-ball it (which is better).

Best thing to do (sorry > as you sound un-experienced) is to just stick it on eBay and get a new one.
