The Playstation 3 Article
The very first link, the one describing the display, links to eBay searching for the terms "gateway widescreen monitor".
It's not on the main Gateway site anymore, but you can get the support info Here.
I think you can still get this model at Best Buy or other electronics retailers.
I believe he used the Westinghouse displays on the non-HDMI 360 laptops (the first two). Laptop #3 was an Elite, with HDMI, so it got the digital display connection.
EDIT:
360 Elite Laptop Search for 17" widescreen gateway. It's mentioned here as well.

Well I 2 more inches is not a overkill considering how big ps3 laptop is anyways...
I found this LCD then, GATEWAY FPD1975W, looks almsot the same as the 17" just bigger...any suggestions?
Also does anyone know if Ben made a tutoral to hack his gateway LCD for 360 elite? I can replicate that to my ps3 mod.

ben's putting up a 'how to' for his PS3 laptop. The first part is already up. I'm sure he'll have plenty of information about the screen. http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/24/how- ... wn-part-1/

i hope making ps3 laptop part 2 comes out soon...anyone have ideas on how he made that case or what he used 2 make it
Re: reply
probably sintra, looks similar to his 360 designs...i am curious to know if he used the stock fan for ps3 cooling or did he use his own small fansetnies911 wrote:i hope making ps3 laptop part 2 comes out soon...anyone have ideas on how he made that case or what he used 2 make it
I'd stick with the 17" personally. If you've ever held a 17" widescreen laptop you probably would think twice about getting a 2" larger screen.
Another reason is that the 17" screen has a wonderful resolution. It is EXACTLY the same as 720p. So, when the PS3 is set to 720p output there is no loss of quality. Specifically, you don't get the image scaled oddly against the LCD grid, which would be the case for the 19" (and most other) displays.
