TigerShark SNESp work log

Post by thewizdawg » Sat Jul 25, 2009 1:18 pm

I've made good progress on my first Super Nintendo portable I call the "TigerShark" so I thought I'd share some pics.

The case is from a 1988 football game from Tiger Electronics called Head to Head Talking Football. I found it at a thrift shop for a buck.

Image

Notice the opponents Tigers vs. Sharks :)

Here I've frankenmodded the case with a PSone LCD bezel and original SNES controller.

Image

I'm using a SNES2 board. The connector has been removed and the caps flattened.

Image

I plan on doing RGB for video and LiPo batteries this time around. I also plan the paint the case 3 tone - white, grey, green. It should look slick. Next up... wiring up the connector.

Looks really good, especially the case! I would recommend putting some heat-shrink tubing around the cap and wire connections.

Viewing skills too maybe? It says what right it is on it.

The Case and the work so far is good, but Dragonforce is lame. I kind of liked them previous to Dragonforce when they were Demoniac, a pseudo-racist black power metal band haha

Wow, my perception of scale was way off in the first picture. At first it looks like one of those little handhelds, but the second picture shows that it's actually big enough for a 5" LCD screen and full sized SNES controls on the sides. Weird.

Awesome find on the case. You are certainly doing the frankencasing method correctly - it looks like you are on the right track to a great portable!

Whenever I go on thrift runs I search for things that would make a good portable case.

The football game case is just about the same size as a Datamax case.

Image

I finished relocating the slot connector today.

Image

I also finished sanding and I'm going to start painting the case this week.

That case looks amazing. I envy your skill. :) I'm looking forward to what the final product will look like.

Quick question: Where did you get that Datamax NES case from? Is it custom-made?
