How to set up basic knob/button operated LED light?

Post by Singewald » Sat Mar 24, 2012 1:03 am

I am building a model of a hockey rink. I want to rig up a very simple knob operated red LED light as the goal light. I would like to have a battery hooked up all the time and be able to use the knob to flick the light on/off. If it makes a difference, the LED light will be red. I also hope to have the wire from the LED light to the knob be about 7 feet.

Through research so far it seems as simple as connecting(with solder and wire) the battery piece to the knob to the resister and finally to the light.

Any advice or if someone could point me to other resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It depends, is the knob meant just for turning the LED on/off or are you trying to make the LED gradually brighten upon turning the knob?
