I think that would be unnecessary. If you take the time to do it right, the Krylon Fusion paint mentioned in your link should be all you need.

If you google around a bit, however, you may find that you want to try an automotive spray. It is a type of dye that chemically bonds to the plastic instead of just coating it. It's easier to screw up but looks better in the long run.

I think using a white GBA to start out with might be a little easier.

You can't suck the dye out of a GBA. The plastic is that colour. Period. The closest you can get is bleaching.

RIT dye for fabrics SHOULD work on the GBA. ive dyed plastics with it before, just take apart the case (probably need a triwing for that) remove all the parts and throw the plastic you want to color into a metal pan with rit dye mixed as the instructions state, heat to a simmer and let it soak stirring occasionally (so you dont let the gba melt to the bottom or something  ) until its the color you want

Krylon Fusion should work OK on the plastic, it bonds right to the plastic and isn't technically a paint but a pigment. Using a white GBA to begin with is a very good idea, it will save tons of time. And the soaking in alcohol doesn't remove pigments in the plastic, it can only remove paint. It also removes and dirt or things sticking to the plastic which would prevent the dye from acting on the plastic.

Another possibility is to use vinyl dye, the kind they make for car tops and such. Here is a link to a guy who used electric blue vinyl dye to paint a Tandy 102 (my favorite old school computer)

http://www.chuckthewriter.com/tandy.html

I have used vinyl dye before, and I would say it beats RIT for sure, and seems to be less tricky to use than Krylon. The problem really is finding it in the color you want.

Sexyness.
You might want to leave the side pieces the regular color (I believe there were gray for all of them), would add some contrast. Pure red would get kinda bland to me.

Looks spiffy! I love Krylon Fusion as well.

I agree, though, that you need a second color to give it some balance.
