Finished my 4th supergun system

Post by low_budget » Wed Jul 27, 2011 9:20 pm

I have recently finished my 4th arcade supergun project.

I have made up a reference guide of sorts to building a universal JAMMA supergun.
Wire your supergun project like my diagram, and it will support any arcade game with a JAMMA connection.
Controller ports are neo geo compatible. I build custom controllers using arcade parts so all the button inputs can be used.
For extra buttons and/or stereo I use a male DB9 connector on the supergun, then wire the kick harness on each arcade board to the mating connector. Games can be easily swapped this way.
Unlike most superguns, I build mine with a real arcade power supply instead of a PC style supply. A little more expensive, but has -5v and adjustable 5v.
I integrate the power supply into the main case so it's less cumbersome. If you do this with a metal case, you must connect the AC ground to the case, as well as DC ground.
The sound goes through a 3P3T switch for three different sound modes: mono, neo geo stereo, and aux. stereo.
