I need a spool of just general wire that I can solder to PCBs and just circuits and stuff. I am a newb and don't know about what size so can you point me in the right direction?

Phone cables are cheap and everywhere, if you want to go about it the redneck way. (Old 40 pin IDE cables and floppy cables are another option, but are a bit thinner and more difficult to solder if you're just starting.)
