It is "possible", but the results you would get in theory are worse than just using a frontlight panel.
Excellent

Re: Backlight Gameboys
Here is the one I promised yesterday, we had a storm so I had to wait before I could send them from my camera (bad reception)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OD0HyjUyt5w Worlds worst quality, and you cant tell a thing, but its something
and here is a pic
So I have two done, and I have 3 more DMGs, hopefully I wont break them
Also, I like this because its like a photonegative, and looks so awesome in person

Re: Backlight Gameboy Pocket
now I'm confused. I thought practically all lighting mods were really front lit. shows what I know.palmertech wrote:Front light is way harder.

Re: Backlight Gameboy Pocket
If it is a gameboy pocket or a DMG, then it is probably baclit. Anything else, probably a frontlight mod.
I suppose frontlight mods are easier in theory, but it is a lot easier to get a 100% flawless backlight than it is to get a perfect frontlight, since the panel is so visible and prone to scratches.

Re: Backlight Gameboy Pocket
could you post a tutorial on how you did this with materials required. I have a gameboy pocket I would love to do this to. Also I have been haveing lots of trouble front lighting my gba. I used the front light from a broken gbasp and it was not bright at all. I don't know what I did wrong. If anyone has any ideas about what might help please let me know.
That's Hacking Awsome

Re: Backlight Gameboy Pocket
ill be making a supergameboy DMG backlight mod tutorial, but the only problem is the battery life changes drastically from 6 hours of play time to somewhere between 59-60 hours of play time.

Do you change the battery to a high-power one?
Cheers,

Re: Backlight Gameboy Pocket
yes, I will be quadrupling the battery life in a Gameboy DMG. But all you need are 4 regular run of the mill AA batteries to power it.Basement_Modder wrote:Do you change the battery to a high-power one?

Re: Backlight Gameboy Pocket
You do realize that simply by using 2500mah cells instead of the standard 900mah alkaline cells the DMG was rated on, you could already get a big boost, in theory?
