I got bored earlier today, so I made an n64p. I call this, The tribute to myself!
Remember this?

Image

Well, I sold it. But I really liked the design. So, I slaughtered up this:

And yes, I did get a new Ocarina and Sword. Go me. :P

It took me about 5 hours to make. All i wanted to do was burn some time, and expiriment with this brand of controller. As you can see, it was a successful gamecube joystick transplant.

Image

As ugly as it is

Image

Beautiful Z and R buttons.

And, A final mugshot.

Image

It runs off of a SONY NP-F550, which is rated at 10.8W Don't know how long that'll last, Probably about an hour, I didn't bother with LED modding the screen.

Now then, anyone in the market? I'll sell it for $200 + shipping.

Oh, and feel free to tell me how ugly it looks, and flame my cases. Except all of you going to MGC, cause then I'll have to meet you, and then you can actually see it and insult it  I'd go just for that.

for a tribute to yourself, its really lacking in the hot-glue department.

Ahem well...

Quite honestly I was prepared to laugh when I saw this topic, but you know what, I gotta hand it to you. Very nice job, especially compared to a few of your others! I think that now, with a bit more time, you'd make a very pretty portable. :)

MY GOD, ANOTHER SS N64P!

Seriously, you keep making these faster and faster each time. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if eventually you made these in only an hour. I like this particular portable. I love to see people frankencase the console's original case.

I've never told anyone but it's been my secret dream to become as fast at portabilizing as SS someday. Except like with really impressive cases (no offense)

Yep, barely used any.

I could, but these work fine. And they were quick to install.

Yep, I could. Tis not why I have not released my GCp. Too much work went into it to finish without a pretty case.

And this one still isnt as great as my 6th.

5 hours! I didn't even have the 64 opened and controller broken apart in 5 hours, let alone soldered back together.

Looks really good for how quickly it was made.

No offense- I have a lot of respect for N64 portabilizers- but I wouldn't buy that. It's really rough, you know? You should touch it up, maybe give it a little paint, then it would be more likely to sell. Please don't take this the wrong way. It's still incredible that you did it in 5 hours.

I cringed when I saw the topic title.

But, it's really not that bad. When do you think you'll try to make a system with a really nice case? I know you prefer function over form, but I'm just wondering...

I like it, but not as much as #6.

How are those buttons? I have a few, but never even dreamed of using them as buttons on a portable. Do they work well? Can you easily press them without sliding off?

I cannot believe how fast you make these, it is absolutely insane.

I started coming to the site just before you did your portable-a-week thing. You could do a portable-a-day.

...a "hack-a-day". if you will.

I think it would be sweet to make all the guts of a portable, then make a mold, put the guts in, and pour in hot-glue to fill in the rest.

In reality, it would be pretty rock-solid, and because none of the parts would move at all, the likelihood of it breaking down would be really low.
