LolzMiniNES: it may be possible to put every NES game on a single cart, working it into the portable itself, but not until a complete FPGA (or similar) based cart is made that can reproduce all the different memory mappers that a NES uses. Also, IIRC there were only 1000 NES games made, and 1500 Famicom.

I don't think there is enough room, but if you could fit batteries and a small tv transmitter, then it could be completely wireless. just tune the tv to the right frequency.

Give or take 771 NES games released in NA.

Ah, I thought we were under attack by spambots trying to register, not far from the truth though. :D

You might make it on a diggnation with that kind of a digg count.

Yeah I dugg the 1000 count one and made a comment about how I found it odd it too so long to end up on digg. But then again do we need benheck to go down again over a post on digg or slashdot?

Wow! The first digg of benheck.com in 07! And with 2000+ Diggs even! :D

It's neat to see that people like it so much. I might go ahead and make a couple to sell since there seems to be so much NES love still around.

I agree, it would be neat to have a cartridge loaded with games, but I don't know of any way to do that. I know there are pirate carts that have quite a few games on them, but not every single one.

There are new pics on the front page, since photobucket crapped out. I didn't imagine this would get dugg or I would have setup a better image host.

It's not the bandwidth that kills, it's the massive increase in sql queries.

That is a very impressive mod, congratulations.

It is nice to see that well over a year has passed, and my backlight mod still lives on. It makes me kind of proud that it has made it into such an outstanding piece of work.

Again, congratulations.

I can't believe it has taken this long for this awesome mod to get dugg/engadgeted.

i've been inspired

i saw this and immediately went to ebay for parts

the iPod reference (white paint) got me going... why bother cramming everything into the controller? you know, besides the fact that it's one of the most beautiful miniturizations i've ever seen

i'm thinkin... make the controller wireless and rechargeable, copy your badass backlit "nintendo" idea, simple on/off switch, and make a svelte little dock (ala iPod) that acts as a charger, wireless receiver, tv hookup, and game board host

does anyone know of an obvious source for a multi-player wireless (IR? RF?) deal that could be shaved down? thats really the only piece of the puzzle that i'm drawing a blank on...

Let me know when you start mass producing these. I'd want a couple myself :)
