it's done

! and just in time for vacation too (i leave sunday).

it may look pretty thick and ugly but it fits comfortably in my hands and i don't really care what it looks like as long as it works

as you can see, you should see if your batteries fit in your case before you make it

mine's an exception becasue the original batteries did fit inside the case but then they died so i got some bigger better ones. the screen has 6 ultra-bright LEDs and a switch so i can turn the brightness mod on/off whenever i want. it looks even better than the original backlight, the pictures don't do it justice.
here's some specs:
-bright PSone screen
-5000mah 8.4v batteries and built-in charger + TI dc-dc convertor
-all the controls (even D-pad and L)
-expansion pack
-relocated cart slot secured with a steel bracket
-relocated volume adjust buttons
-dip switch so i can control just about everything that goes on with the wiring
-it will have RCA jacks that i'll install after vacation, i just didn't have the time to do it before
-memory card slot
-stereo sound
it cost about $250 and took over a year to make. when i was getting close to finishing it, it seemed like everything that could go wrong did

but i eventually fixed everything and now it works

it's unofficially named Gameboy 64
