Disc Drive and Case construction

I'm curious I plan on making a Sega Dreamcast Portable, and after a Nintendo Gamecube Portable and I was wondering would there be a way to have a clean cut and be able to make a cut on half of the case so you could lift up the front-external part and have a disc drive in there so that its not on the outside and unprotected, so it would be like the normal gamecubes cover for the disc drive but it would be lifting up the screen and buttons, etc. if that makes sense xD
