SEGA Twin Pad Player mini Review(with pictures!)
Moderator:Moderators
Got it today and since I have not found a topic about it... here it is.
Front:
Back:
There it is, the latest(?) addition to GOAC devices:
And one out of two pads:
And it's backside, remember the PAL/NTSC selecting switch
It gets deliverd with two six button pads, a 100V-240V @50-60hz PSU and two chinchcables(Composite video and mono audio).
Since I live in Europe the last time I have seen composite video was a long time ago and also I use a LCD TV, so I am a bit disappointed about the video output. Sound output is very disapointing, seems like something is missing(or very silent), byebye catchy Landstalker tunes like I know you :/
Pads are really okay, not as good as the old SEGA 6 button pads, but ver usable.
PAL games do not have boarders and seem to run in 60hz(testet with sonic 1 60sec in game = 60sec in real time, also on NTSC settings)
RGB output and stereo sound(with good sound emulation) would have made it almost perfect, but now I am considering playing Pier Solar on the old big one once it is available.
Games working:
Landstalker PAL
Landstalker JAP
Shining Force I PAL
Shining Force I JAP
Shining Force II PAL
Shining Force II JAP
Sonic 1 PAL
Sonic & Knuckles PAL, music seems to play too fast, graphic glitch on the top ~10 pixelline; build in rom however plays fine
SIX PACK PAL
Some Golfgame PAL
Games not working:
Action Replay 2, just starts build in game launcher
Super Street Fighter 2/PAL, red fullscreen both settings
Remembered the PAL/NTSC switch?
looky looky
It is a tripple throw switch with a mysterious "JAP" setting under the hood!
top:
bottom:
IC says "Fujitsu devices inc. MSP 55LV128" I suppose that is the 20 game rom module.
That's it.

On the inside it looks like a allready cart slotted radica. But from what i can see theres no op-amp, no separate luma/chroma lines and no on board voltage regulator. So the GOAC must be different from the one used in the radica. Its a shame theres no RGB support, but RGB lines might be on there terminated with 75ohm resistors maybe.

I think it's from Play Asia, see: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-6z- ... -2sf4.htmlCronoTriggerfan wrote:Wow, this is a new one. Looks pretty tiny, too! Where did you get it from? Was this an online purchase or just a lucky find?

I'd buy this thing ONLY if Virtua Racing works on it. Any pins on the cartridge slot that don't have any connection to the GOAC?
EDIT: This GOAC clone is a pile of crap!!! Look at this video: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=XZfvVoRd-Jg
This is an abomination to the Genesis/MegaDrive!!!! How the hell can Sega license such a piece of #$%^?! Goodness gracious, license something like the Gen-X or GN Twin(without an NES board, duh), not this pile of steaming crap! This is worse than an NOAC! Hell, even the Radica Genesis/MegaDrive does a better job! By the way, is the Radica still in production? If so, they should add a cartridge slot to it from the factory.
Also: NO VIRTUA RACING ON THIS UNIT! No way I'm EVER getting this unit.
