G-MOTE Revision 1 Progress Thread

Post by nightwheel » Mon Apr 14, 2008 1:32 pm

I tried to type up this topic last Thurday. But when i went to submit it, ben was upgrading the forum.

Anyways, last August we had a One-Handed Controller Comp which some of you may remember. For the ones who don't remember or wern't a member back then, heres some 2 links for ya:

Well I made a entry which I called the G-MOTE. Which was a One-Handed Sega Genesis controller. Which also happened to be my first mod. Well the controller was not well received and was unoriginal. All of this happend 9 months ago.

Now lets jump to last Thursday, I was trying to find the Namco so I could do some much needed work on it. Unfortunely I couldn't find it. So I looked for something else that i could do. So I thought of doing the G-Mote revision that I wanted to make since a month after I made the original. So I went and grabed the Original G-MOTE and cut it case apart and removed the guts. (enough of the story, time for the progress thread part of this)

Ok So I had the guts, The first thing i needed to do was cut the Controller board (again) and remove the D-Pad. Needless to say I screwed up the D-Pad. So I had to do raid my EA Games NHL 95/Madden 95 plug "n" play for its D-Pad. The cool thing about it's D-Pad is that it's not part of the main board and is attached by wires. (sorry, I already had the EA Games D-Pad off cut off in this picture)

After Cutting it off, I started to attach it to the Sega Genesis controller board. Making sure I reversed the left and the right controls. After I got done. I checked to see if evrything worked which it did.

I still got more work to do on this thing. Possibly even more cutting of the controller mobo. And I have a idea for a case but not ready to show the idea at the moment. This project should not take me very long to do. Maybe 2 or 3 weeks if everything goes right.

But for now here are some more pics of the work I did thursday:
