Re: Portable Nintendo 64 joystick replacement
Yeah, from what I've heard those joysticks tend to not get the range of the N64 joystick quite right. Most of them are absolutely fine for most games but there are some which will actually screw up due to their range. As for replacing the original N64 joystick with a PS1 stick, its really really not...

The unfortunate part about having a life and not being able to do mods all day. Btw, just saw a video of Carmack talking about the oculus rift. Awesome work Palmer.

Re: SNES Nonvolatile SRAM board
Awesome idea, and I love that you're getting a PCB made to keep it all clean and pretty looking. I'm sure they'll be people willing to buy boards off you, especially if you do the SMD work for them. A couple of small tips for future PCBs: it's generally good practice to have a ground plane fil...

Re: Problems with a snes controller build
Yeah, I've gone over these pictures a couple of times and I can't see anything wrong. If its not the ICs I'd think it has to be how it connects to the joystick.

Re: Cart emulator progress thread
While I'm not Marshallh and my answer should be taken with a grain of salt this isn't possible. The simple reason being that the 64drive uses SDRAM for all the obvious reasons and this is volatile and requires quite a bit of power as it needs to be refreshed quite often (thousands of times every sec...

Re: Problems with a snes controller build
If you could give us a picture of what you've done so far that would be helpful. I believe that circuit should work (I did something similar a while ago) so its likely a little mistake.

There'll be plenty of people who'll ship internationally. Another option is to buy a new clone SNES. I've had good experiences with Stone age gamer.

Re: Super All In One Console Project.
Apparently the NES just puts the 9VAC it gets through a bridge rec and then through a 7805. In that case it doesn't even matter the polarity in which you connect the DC. As far as the N64 goes it requires 12V and 3.3V so they're fine. If you don't feel comfortable with it you don't have to do it. It...

Re: Super All In One Console Project.
You definitely don't need the regulators for the N64 and NES and probably won't for the others if you just look at using a cheap ATX PSU for power.

Re: Super All In One Console Project.
If its already in a PC case then you should just use a computer PSU. The N64 requires 12V and 3.3V which you can grab off a normal PSU.

Re: N64 to play cds
The short answer is that there are no homemade solutions to be done with a disc drive. I'd would suggest Marshall's 64drive which you'd love even Krizz's everdrive 64 (which you'd like). They both take flash memory rather than CD's which is better for this kind of thing anyway. If you had your heart...
