Re: IntoDream - bacteria's DreamCast project
2 problems with using my vacuum case - 1) not high enough as the DreamCast's drive is so thick, 2) touch and go if can trim the DC board down enough to fit in the case - would mean rewiring parts of the DC board, which may or may not work. The replacement case is only a few millimeters broader, but ...

Re: IntoDream - bacteria's DreamCast project
Ok, back from shops. Found exactly what I wanted - got 4 lunchboxes, so spares in case needed. These are 2L lunch boxes, 22 x 15 cms. http://i32.tinypic.com/x51kbn.jpg This is not a naff idea, it is actually a very good one. The base to lunchboxes is not very strong, but that doesn't matter, the bas...

Re: IntoDream - bacteria's DreamCast project
Ok, deviation - looked very closely at the areas I need to trim on the DC board to make it fit in my case. It's very close, but I think it might not quite fit (by about 3mm), also of course, the case isn't thick enough, designed for an absolute maximum of 58mm (as per the IntoGrafx), this will need ...

Discussion about potato chips
For those of you "in the know" about this from my WIP thread, have a Bat cake! http://i31.tinypic.com/302qfq1.jpg For everyone else, this isn't about crispy snacky loveliness, but this, from a DreamCast VMU! Made me laugh! http://i26.tinypic.com/m9lpch.jpg Thought about renaming my system "Spud Cast...

Re: Fixing Coca-Cola damaged electronics?
Water + electronics = bad
Water + sugar + electronics = very bad
Turning on when board has water, moisture or sugar on it is fry time
Would have been best to open the boards from the casing, left in airing cupboard for a week, then tried it.

Re: relocate gd-rom drive on revision 1 board
Check all wires are soldered solid. Hot glue the wires after testing to make sure the system works ok.

Re: IntoDream - bacteria's DreamCast project
Update - the VMU To get the VMU in the case, it needs to lose height, so there is space for the 4 button pad board. Put 4 x AA's in replacement for the two 3v watch batteries (6v); although, as tested before, works on 8.3v ok. This is my new VMU, dated 2000, circuit is nearly the same as the 1999 on...

Re: Kids these days...
How about audio cassettes, vinyl albums, electronic and manual typewriters (days before internet)? Must seem like antiques to the new generation, and most of you guys! - yet it wasn't that many years ago when they were "in" - about 25 years ago - I was using them!

Re: My first handheld (N64P) is complete
Looks nice.
From the bottom corners, do we take it that it used the case sides from an N64, and you changed the top? Just curious.
