I spent about an hour and a half soldering transistors, and resistors, and wiring it all up, and then realized that I stupidly grabbed the wrong box of transistors out of my parts drawer. I used NPN transistors by accident instead of PNP  Might think about buying yourself a solderless breadbo...

Why won't your drawing work? you will need a couple of resistors for each transistor to make it work. You could leave out the resistors and see if the circuit works properly, but no guarantees. R1 (from the site I linked) brings the transistor into its saturation state. R2 isn't required, but it wi...

After thinking about it, I realized that my diagram won't work quite right as-is, but it's close, you're going to need to modify it a bit. Look here on what you will need to do to modify it.

Please excuse the horrible drawing, but this might work for you http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3527/wiringce1.th.jpg This has the guitar string as ground and uses pnp resistors. If this doesn't work, then I guess you'd have to make the string positive and use npn transistors, but that doesn't se...

again, correct me if I'm wrong here, but when you say and the buttons don't actually go to the ground, they go to a glop top or something. So each button has two unique contacts. it sounds like you already have a controller that you want to wire your guitar into. Are you certain that the different b...

It might be nice to have a little better description of what you're trying to do. I'm assuming you're building a guitar hero controller and you want to wire it to either a USB controller or a normal playstation 2 controller, is this right? What are you trying to do with this controller, are you tryi...

Also, solder won't stick to the board. Is this normal? In fact... solder wont stick to a lot of things I try to solder. There is probably a coating on several parts of the board that you will have to scratch off in order to solder to it. Also, when soldering, don't heat up the solder with your iron...

My personal suggestion would be to just buy another GBO off of ebay to hack apart for the controls. If destroying the controls of a working GBO seems offensive to you, there are usually one or two auctions for broken ones (there is a broken one for sale right now, but it also happens to be more expe...

<b>Knife Safety dance</b> Always, but ALWAYS CUT AWAY FROM YOU ! If the blade slips, the stored potential energy in it and your arm will be exerted into the table or empty space instead of into your torso/leg/other important body part. Alternately, with a utility knife, get a deathgr...
