Willem Programmer not reading EPROM correctly
I just got my EPROM eraser today after a long three weeks, so I figured I could start using some EPROMs for projects. Well I went to test my programmer by throwing a EPROM in it that I took off of a MAME board. I did a read on it, and instead of what I thought would look like data (this is from a ma...

Re: Rebuilding a laptop battery?
As long at the voltage (in my case 10.8v) is the same, I could use any combination of voltage/current of cells right? What I remember from physics was cell in series = increased voltage, cells in parallel = increased current. Could I do 2x7.2v cells at 2200mAh, and 2x3.6v cells at 2200mAh? Or is it ...

Rebuilding a laptop battery?
I'm doing a project with a laptop, but the battery is dead. Now the new case I'm putting it in has way more space than the previous one, so I was wondering if I could rebuild the battery following the instructions here . Also, could I do, I don't know, 3.6v cells at 2200mAh to give this a little bit...

Re: Converted an old Tri-Sports arcade machine to a MAME cabinet
I'm actually in Salem, about 20 minutes west of Kenosha. I'm coming to MGC this year, but wasn't thinking about bringing it. But if you guys got the space, maybe I will!

Converted an old Tri-Sports arcade machine to a MAME cabinet
Hey all, I've been working on a MAME cabinet for my room for the past couple of months and I just completed it! https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/265020_2130280104956_1484607273_2256927_4387014_n.jpg How the cabinet looked before I touched it. http://i.imgur.com/3aIf1.jpg Overview...

Re: My question is: What do you use YOUR Heatgun for?
Bending plexiglass, heat shrink tubing, warming myself up in the winter. Heating up food is a good idea though!

Cleaning old consoles?
I know enough not to use things like Windex or nail polish remover on plastics, but what should I use? I've got a SNES and original Gameboy that I would love to clean up, along with getting some marker and stickers off some game cartridges. Does anyone have tips on breathing new life into old consol...

Re: Happ Trackball Acting Spastically
I gave up on the trackball for a while, but then decided to buy a Optiwiz to remove the possibility of a bad mouse. I hooked everything up, and the Y axis was working better, yet still a bit spastic, and the X axis doesn't seem to work at all. I busted out a digital oscope I forgot that I had built ...

Re: Happ Trackball Acting Spastically
The wiring is fine, and the internals are clean. The trackball works fine when closed up, but as soon as I mount it in the cabinet, only the Y axis stops working. I resoldered all the joints and replaced the wiring, but no luck so far. I've also insulated the board and taped it to the case of the tr...

Happ Trackball Acting Spastically
I'm working on a cabinet and I did the hack to interface the rotary encoders (if you want to call them that) in the trackball with a PS/2 ball mouse. It was working fine until today, which just happened to be the same day I got the rest of the buttons working  . Now it seems my Y axis has a bi...

Arcade Cabinet Marquee
I'm about to purchase an old arcade cabinet for $100, Rim Rockin' Basketball actually. It has a nice big button board for what I want to do, but I don't think I'm going to keep the marquee. I've been drawing up a couple of designs in my head that I really like, but I don't know how to go about getti...

Possumus Woman?
So I built a sweet new media center and I'm trying to fill it with content. Sadly enough, the link for the 720p 5.1 surround version of Possumus Woman seems to be dead. Can anyone provide a mirror? I miss this movie so much

Re: Minimum Xbox PSU?
Just wondering, I could probably use a 360's power supply as sort of an external brick right? I'm just trying to look at my options here, and I'm assuming a 175W 360 power brick would be more than sufficient for an original Xbox's PSU. I'd have to step down to 3.3v to fully support the mobo but I do...
