Re: Guide to frontlight a Gameboy Color
Well, I managed to get a significant chunk done today. I got the screen and stuff out of the donor sp and got the black adhesive off the screen. Ugh, that sp was a royal pain. The screws didn't want to budge and then the adhesive stuff (hoo boy). :wtf: I now have waaaaaaaaaay higher respect and symp...

Re: Guide to frontlight a Gameboy Color
Yeah, luckily one of my friends had one laying around that he didn't want anymore, so he sold it to me. One of my other friends also gave me a copy of Megaman Xtreme, so I'm feelin' pretty darn good today.

Re: Guide to frontlight a Gameboy Color
I've been thinking. Is there a significant loss in battery life, or is there no loss at all? Nobody has really complained about it, but one of my friend brought the question up when I told him I was going to mod my gbc.

Re: Guide to frontlight a Gameboy Color
I finally got the donor sp. Just waiting on the srewdrivers to come in the mail. The sp has some problems, so I don't feel bad about killing a fully working one. I paid 5 bucks for it as-is.

Re: Guide to frontlight a Gameboy Color
I've had a thought. Somebody said something about the color being washed out from the mod. I heard about anti reflective film for the screen to prevent that. Where would I happen to find this?

Re: Guide to frontlight a Gameboy Color
I just got some 22 gauge wire. I didn't know whether to choose between solid or stranded. I picked solid, is that ok?

Ah, one more question, did you also do the rubber paint on the part that the cartridge slides up against? I the pics it's blocked so I can't really see it.

Re: Modded Gameboy Color, not much special....
Ok. Thanks for all the help and advice! :D I thought that maybe I should paint my GBC to go along with the front light mod and the speaker fix with a speaker from an sp. My friends think I'm crazy, but I don't like playing Dragon Warrior on my SP, because if I tap the cart even the slightest bit, it...

Re: Modded Gameboy Color, not much special....
Oh ok. Did you use plastic primer and a clear coat? And was the rubber stuff spray on? Because the one I found was a spray. Sorry if it seems like I'm bothering you or asking too many questions.

Re: Modded Gameboy Color, not much special....
Did you paint the inside of the battery compartment? I think I found some of the black rubber grip paint, but I thought it would be a little weird to paint the battery compartment with that.

Re: Guide to frontlight a Gameboy Color
Thanks! I might also paint the outside of my GBC. Purple isn't exactly the color I like. Maybe silver on the front and then make the back black.
